Everything You Need to Know About Microneedling
If you’ve ever dreamed of smoother, brighter, more youthful-looking skin, microneedling might be the treatment for you.
It’s one of the most effective, non-invasive ways to improve your skin’s tone, texture, and overall health. But we get it, needles can sound a little intimidating.
We’re here to break down everything you need to know: what microneedling is, what it feels like, how to prep, and how to care for your skin afterwards. Spoiler: it’s way less scary than it sounds.
What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling—also called collagen induction therapy—is a minimally invasive treatment that uses tiny needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. These controlled injuries trigger your body’s natural healing response, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.
Why does that matter? Collagen and elastin are your skin’s best friends. They help with:
- Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Fading acne scars and pigmentation
- Smoothing rough or uneven texture
- Minimizing pore size
- Giving your skin that bouncy, radiant look
We also offer microneedling with VAMP™, a topical , sterile bio-revitalizing solution enriched with a powerful blend of Vitamins, Amino acids, Minerals and PDRN for skin rejuvenation and revitalization.
It helps to improve skin tonicity, tighten pores and smooth wrinkles. Overall, restoring skin’s glow, hydration and improving skin texture.
What Does It Feel Like?

Most people describe microneedling as “totally manageable.” We apply a medical-grade numbing cream before the treatment to ensure you’re comfortable. You might feel a slight pressure or scratchy sensation, especially on the forehead or bony areas, but many clients find it relaxing.
Afterwards, your skin may look red (like a mild sunburn) and feel warm or tight. This usually fades within 24–48 hours, depending on your skin’s sensitivity.
How to Prep for Your Appointment
A little prep goes a long way in getting the best results. Here’s what we recommend:
- Avoid retinoids and exfoliants for one week before treatment
- Skip tanning and sun exposure
- Come with clean, makeup-free skin
- Let us know about any active acne, cold sores, or skin infections
Book your treatment at least 2 weeks before any major event. You’ll want time for your skin to calm down and start glowing.
Aftercare: What to Expect + What to Avoid

Microneedling jumpstarts your skin’s healing process, so post-care is just as important as the treatment itself. Here’s what you need to know:
First 24–48 hours:
- Your skin may be red, sensitive, and slightly swollen (this is totally normal!)
- Avoid makeup, sweating, heat, and touching your face
- Use gentle, hydrating products—nothing harsh or active
Days 3–7:
- Your skin might feel dry or flaky—this is part of the healing process
- Continue using calming, non-active skincare (we’ll recommend specific Alumier or PCA products)
- Keep up with SPF 30+ daily (especially important during recovery!)
Within 1–2 weeks:
- Skin looks brighter, smoother, and more refreshed
- Collagen continues building over the next several weeks, meaning you’ll see ongoing improvements over time
Who Is Microneedling Good For?

Microneedling is a great option for most skin types and tones, especially if you’re dealing with:
- Dull or tired-looking skin
- Fine lines and early signs of aging
- Acne scarring or post-inflammatory pigmentation
- Uneven texture or enlarged pores
We’ll always do a full skin assessment before your appointment to make sure it’s right for you.
How Many Sessions Do You Need?
It depends on your skin goals! Some clients see noticeable results after one treatment, but we often recommend a series of 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart for best results. After that, maintenance treatments every few months help keep your glow going strong.
Book your microneedling consultation today, and we’ll answer all your questions and build a treatment plan just for you.
