PRP vs. PDRN: Which One Is Right for You? Let’s Break It Down.
You’ve probably seen PRP and PDRN popping up all over skincare TikTok and Instagram lately—especially with celebrities raving about their glow-up results. But unless you work in aesthetics, it’s easy to get lost in all the acronyms.
Here at Ageless Living, we like to keep things simple. So we’re breaking it all down in a way that makes sense—and helps you figure out what might work best for your skin goals.
What Is PRP?

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma, and yes, it uses your own blood. (Stay with us—it’s actually amazing.)
We draw a small amount of your blood, spin it in a special machine, and collect the part rich in platelets and growth factors. Those growth factors are your skin’s best friend. They kickstart healing, repair tissue, and stimulate new collagen.
We use PRP in a few different ways:
- Injected into the scalp to help with hair thinning or early-stage hair loss
- Microneedled into the skin to treat texture, fine lines, and acne scars
- Injected into the face or neck to boost collagen and brighten dull skin
Because it comes from your own body, PRP is super safe, natural, and has almost no risk of reaction. It’s one of our most loved regenerative treatments, and our clients see real, lasting results.
What’s PDRN?
PDRN is short for Polydeoxyribonucleotide (we know, it’s a mouthful), and it’s what a lot of celebs are calling the new “skin booster glow shot.”
It’s not made from your blood—instead, it’s often derived from salmon DNA (yes, really) and has become really popular in Korea and high-end skincare circles. It’s known for its hydrating, anti-inflammatory, and skin-repairing properties.
Think of PDRN as your skin’s post-party recovery serum. It doesn’t stimulate collagen the same way PRP does, but it can calm, hydrate, and help your skin bounce back faster after treatments like microneedling.
How We Use It at Ageless Living

We don’t inject PDRN here, but we do use it topically as part of our VAMP™ serum, which is applied immediately after microneedling.
Our VAMP™ serum includes:
- PDRN for healing and hydration
- Amino acids + vitamins for nourishment
- Minerals + antioxidants for a radiant glow
It’s designed to soak into the skin when your microneedling channels are fresh, giving you faster recovery and a lit-from-within finish.
PRP vs. VAMP™: What’s the Difference?
They’re both fantastic, just in very different ways.
Feature | PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) | VAMP™ Serum with PDRN |
Source | Your own blood (natural) | Lab-made with PDRN (often from salmon) |
How it’s used | Injected or microneedled into skin/scalp | Applied topically after microneedling |
Key benefits | Collagen boost, skin texture, hair regrowth | Hydration, glow, faster healing |
Allergy risk | Very low | Higher (not recommended if fish allergy) |
Used for | Hair loss, acne scars, aging skin | Hydration, skin healing after treatments |
So Which One Should You Choose?
- If your goal is firming, smoothing, and long-term collagen building, go with PRP.
- If your skin is feeling dull, dry, or needs recovery support after a procedure like microneedling, add VAMP™ serum.
- Want both? You can totally pair PRP with microneedling and use VAMP™ post-treatment for extra glow and faster healing. That combo is a client favourite.
A Quick Note on Allergies
PDRN is often derived from fish (usually salmon), so if you have a fish allergy, let us know before we apply the VAMP™ serum. We’ll guide you toward a safe and equally effective alternative.
Don’t worry—you don’t need to figure it all out on your own. That’s what we’re here for.
