Canadian Mental Health Week: Promoting Self-Care

Canadian Mental Health Week is an annual event that takes place every May since 1951, to promote mental health awareness.

With the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, we sometimes forget to care for ourselves. We want to serve as a reminder that it is good to prioritize your health and well-being and take time to treat yourself occasionally.

Self-care year-round is important but sometimes we get too busy with life and neglect ourselves. This month we want to emphasize how important self-care is with mindfulness practices and sharing self-care treatments. This is the time to pause, reflect, and invest in your mental wellness.

Self-Care Treatments

Let’s work on proactively addressing our health and well-being.

Vitamin Drips

  • IV vitamin therapy, also called vitamin drips, supports self-care and holistic well-being.
  • It delivers essential nutrients like electrolytes, minerals, and vitamins directly into the bloodstream.
  • Ideal for individuals with nutrient deficiencies or those seeking to boost overall wellness.
  • Infusion of vital vitamins, such as vitamin B complex, enhances energy levels and immune support.
  • IV therapy promotes increased energy, better immune function, and overall vitality.

Medical Facials and Masks

  • At Ageless Living, we understand the difference between store-bought facials and medical-grade facials performed by licensed professionals.
  • Our team can create personalized treatments tailored to your exact needs, surpassing the effects of over-the-counter products and even high-end spa facials.
  • Through our expertise and premium products, we can deliver results that go beyond conventional skincare routines, providing precise and effective solutions for your specific skincare needs.

Forma

  • Forma is a non-invasive treatment using radiofrequency (RF) waves to rejuvenate skin texture and tone.
  • It targets specific facial areas such as the forehead, eyelids, and neck for a more youthful appearance.
  • The treatment includes a built-in thermal sensor to ensure safe and effective application by monitoring skin temperature in real time.
  • Clinical evidence supports Forma’s effectiveness, with prolonged exposure to temperatures above 40°C yielding optimal results.
  • Safe for all skin types, Forma offers a versatile option for individuals seeking skin improvement and promoting self-care.

PRP Hair Restoration

Hair Loss Restoration
  • Hair loss, whether due to aging, genetics, or other factors, can take a toll on one’s confidence and self-esteem.
  • PRP therapy offers a natural solution by harnessing the body’s own regenerative abilities to stimulate hair growth.
  • The treatment typically takes less than an hour and results can typically be seen within 4 to 6 months after treatment.

Microblading

  • Eyebrows play a significant role in framing the face and enhancing facial features.
  • Maintaining perfectly shaped eyebrows can be time-consuming and frustrating.
  • Microblading offers a long-lasting solution that saves time and effort while ensuring natural-looking results.

Investing in self-care treatments is not just about improving our physical appearance; it’s a proactive step towards prioritizing our overall well-being.

From IV vitamin therapy to advanced skincare procedures like medical facials and Forma, these treatments offer holistic benefits that go beyond surface-level improvements. Self-care is also about boosting confidence and self-esteem. By embracing these self-care practices, we empower ourselves to look and feel our best, inside and out. So, let’s take the time to invest in ourselves and prioritize our health and happiness.

Mindfulness Practices

Incorporating mindfulness practices into your daily routine can significantly contribute to your overall mental well-being. These can be things like:

  • Reducing Screen time: social media can be fun but sometimes we compare ourselves to others and add unnecessary stressors to our lives. Take some time to read or go for a walk instead to clear your mind.
  • Mindful Breathing: Take a few minutes each day to focus on your breath, inhaling and exhaling deeply to center yourself and reduce stress.
  • Body Scan: Practice a body scan meditation to bring awareness to each part of your body, releasing tension and promoting relaxation.
  • Meditation: Set aside time for meditation, allowing yourself to be fully present in the moment and cultivate a sense of inner peace.
  • Mindful Eating: Pay attention to the sensory experience of eating, savoring each bite and being fully present during meals.
  • Listening to Music: Engage in active listening to music, allowing yourself to fully immerse in the sounds and emotions conveyed by the music.

These tips are to help you stay present, reduce stress, and enhance self-awareness. You can start by setting aside a few daily minutes to engage in these practices.

Giving Back with Stepping Stones

Since the beginning of this year, we have been partnering with the Stepping Stones Crisis Society to help women and children victims of domestic violence. As we continue this year, we will be prioritizing the mental well-being of these victims by donating body care and essential items to these victims.

You can help us by bringing in 2 full-sized or 6 travel-size personal care items like shampoo, soap, and deodorant.

Support and resources are available for those who need help with their mental health. The CMHA provides a range of services and programs to support Canadians with mental health challenges. These include crisis lines, peer support, counselling, and education. Mental Health Week also serves as an opportunity to raise awareness of the various resources available and encourage people to seek help when they need it.

Conclusion

Self-care can look different to everyone, taking time for yourself to relax or indulging in a treatment to help you feel or look your best. You can also help others as a form of self-care. The most important thing is to take time to prioritize your mental health. Take a step away from the stressors in your life to take care of the only thing you can control… yourself.

We wish you all the best this month and we hope you take time to feel your best!
