Full Face Rejuvenation and Fillers – What’s The Hype?
Let’s be honest, we’ve all had our moment standing in front of the mirror, lifting one side of our face up, pretending to give ourselves a mini face-lift. We run to Google and type in “facial rejuvenation procedures only to be swamped with a list of endless treatment options- all claiming to be the “holy grail” of aesthetics.
At Ageless Living Cold Lake, we love to use dermal fillers to achieve amazing full-face results, with little to no downtime. Dermal fillers serve as a great treatment for revitalizing the face, while being a non-surgical option to suit the needs of many.
If you’ve been in our clinic before, you may have heard our injectors refer to the “triangle of youth”. When we are in our youth, the structure of our face is much like an upside triangle, with the majority of volume in our cheeks and a slimming effect to the lower face.
As we age, this triangle flips. This is due to the loss of bone density, decreased fat pads, and slowed collagen production– which can leave the face appearing “saggy” or “hollow”. With facial fillers, we can work on building the foundation and structure back and add volume again to help reverse the triangle of youth!
A full-face rejuvenation or “liquid facelift” using filler will often include injecting areas such as the temples, cheeks, under eyes, lips, and chin. This kind of treatment cannot be accomplished with just 1-2 syringes and it is most definitely an investment.
Something to note is that one full syringe of filler is equal to 1/5th of a teaspoon! So, if your injector recommends between 6-10 syringes of filler… they aren’t trying to scam you. A treatment like this can be done in multiple sessions, focusing on a specific area each time. This can help with budgeting and downtime. Your injector will work with you to formulate a plan and let you know where a good place to start is!
Let’s delve into some common questions about fillers!
1. What are fillers made of?
The fillers we use at Ageless Living are made of a synthetic hyaluronic acid gel. This is a substance that is naturally occurring in our bodies and aides in keeping the skin hydrated and healthy.
2. How long do fillers last?
Fillers can last anywhere between 6-18 months depending on the area treated! This is because the concentration of hyaluronic acid differs from a cheek filler to a lip filler. On average, a lip filler is usually touched up every 6-9 months, while cheek filler can last you well over a year! If for some reason the filler needs to be removed, it can be easily dissolved with an injectable enzyme.
3. Do fillers hurt?
Everyone has a different pain tolerance, but we can assure you that we will always do our best to make your treatment as comfortable as possible!
We have a strong topical numbing cream that can be applied prior to injection, as well as our fillers actually have lidocaine in the gel which increases numbing with every poke.
If you’re someone who likes distractions during procedures, we have some squeezy balls and other tools for you.
4. How do I know the treatment is safe?
Do your research when looking for a clinic. Read reviews, go in for a consult, and ask for filler before and after photos of previous work the injector has done. Your injector should be comfortable with sharing all information with you during a thorough consultation.
The clinic should be clean and professional. As for the injecting itself, our injectors at Ageless Living do multiple training sessions a year to stay on top of the most current best practices for technique and safety!
5. What should I expect after my injections?
Bruising and swelling are both normal things to expect after a filler treatment. The injected areas may be slightly red and tender as well. We provide our patients with ice packs to help mitigate the above!
Although filler is apparent right after injection, it can take between 2-4 weeks to fully settle. At 2 weeks we follow up with our patients to make sure everything is looking and feeling good!
It’s not hard to understand why dermal fillers have been dominating the facial aesthetics industry, being a safe and non-surgical procedure with lasting results!
If you feel like fillers may be the right option for you, give us a call and we would be happy to schedule you a consultation with one of our trained injectors. These are always complimentary.
